Which class is right for me?
*All classes are open to all male and female dancers and tumblers.
*For our beginner-intermediate classes, we have different programs designed for each age progression:
*For our intermediate-advanced classes, we have a leveling system:
*Adult Dance, Heels, and Tumbling classes are designed for everyone age 18 and older of all ability levels, even if it is your first ever dance class!
*Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Tumbling are considered our core classes. These classes are all essential to a dancer as, all together, they teach essential technique to help you safely execute skills, gain coordination, rhythm, strength, and flexibility, as well as understand full body movement, directions, and how to count music.
*Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, and Heels Class are advanced classes that students are welcome to explore in addition to their prerequisites. Some with a more upbeat party style and others with a more emotional concentrated style, these classes lend to the more "trendy" styles of today and allow the dancers to dive deeper into exploring artistry and maturing as a dancer. *Many of these classes require enrollment in at least 1 or more core classes.
*Technique classes are a bonus class for our dancers to specifically concentrate on deep muscle development, proper execution of skills, and gaining flexibility. These classes do not learn choreography, so there is more time to really improve and get extra help to transfer over to core classes. *Students in these classes must be at least 9 years old and enrolled in at least one other class at Artistic Intensity.
*Dance Team - you will find all the skills you need in our Ballet, Jazz, Technique, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Tumbling, which have all the training required for dance team preparation! Don't forget continuing training while on dance team is essential to help maintain skills and keep your body healthy and safe!
*Theatre - For those looking to advance their skills as a theatre performer, the best classes for you to invest in are Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Heels Class. Acrobatics is always a plus in the theatre, like for Newsies, and don't forget about Hip Hop for Hamilton!
*For our beginner-intermediate classes, we have different programs designed for each age progression:
- "First Steps" class for age 18 months to 4 years.
- "Little Stars" classes for age 4-6.
- "Debut" classes for age 7-10.
- "Intro to Dance" for age 11-17.
*For our intermediate-advanced classes, we have a leveling system:
- Our leveled classes are generally for ages 9/10-18 and we have 8 levels of advancement. We have our level 1 classes which are intermediate classes all the way through level 8 which is our professional graduation program.
- Students ages 9-17 who have less than 3 years current experience, must complete at least one year of our beginner-intermediate program successfully before entering leveled classes.
- All students move up programs/levels at teacher recommendation only. For more information see "How are levels determined" below.

How are levels determined?
At Artistic Intensity, our students advance in level/program by readiness, rather than age. We find this extremely important to help all of our students at an individual level and ensure they receive the proper training to advance safely. It is of the utmost importance to us that every student gets the education they need to be successful and confident in their journey as a dancer and tumbler. Most students will stay in a level/program for more than 1 or 2 years. This is very normal as there is so much to learn in each level to be prepared for the next and they will continue learning and growing in that level until they are physically ready to advance.
As mentioned above we have different programs/levels for each age group. Once a student enrolls in classes, just as in traditional schooling, our teachers will watch their performance in class and at events to decide where to place them in the coming year. Technique, style, rhythm, strength and memorization as well as class participation, attendance, and physical readiness are all factors that are taken into consideration. If a student is ready to move up programs/levels, our staff will notify the parent at the beginning of the next season. For our younger classes, a student may advance to the next program before the student ages out of their current program at teacher recommendation only.
When a student registers with us for the first time, many factors go into their placement. Prior experience, age, maturity, focus, technique, artistry and physical readiness are all combined when considering proper placement. For this reason, all families must contact us upon registering, so we can work together to find the best place for their student!

Little Stars Dance (45 min) - For ages 4-6, we include fundamentals of Ballet, Jazz body movement, and rhythms in Tap necessary for these young boys and girls to begin their dance journey! They will also continue to improve on the creative movement that they began in First Steps. At this level, students are now able to join our separate tumbling class for this same age!
Little Stars Tumbling (30-45 min) - For ages 4-6, this is our intro to Tumbling where our little tumblers concentrate on improving the basics and help them get strong and more flexible so they can execute the tumbling skills they are learning, safely! This high energy class will help them run off all that extra energy!
Debut Dancers (1hr 30min) - For ages 7-10, this class includes Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, and is specifically designed as a transition between Little Stars class and our leveled classes. Dancers start to get more concentration and begin their journey to becoming artists! The longer class time lets us spend the time needed on each individual dance genre. We have fun while also getting more focused on improving technique and style!
Debut Hip Hop (30 min) - For ages 6-10, this is an introduction to street style dance. We teach basic footwork, isolations, popping, freestyle, and commercial dance, to create a fun, high energy class! *Must also be enrolled in one of our dance combo programs.
Debut Tumbling (45 min) - For ages 7-10, this class helps prepare students for our leveled Acrobatics class by continuing to improve on current skills while learning more new skills, strength-training and stretching! *Upon completion of this class, students will be ready to enter Acro 1 or 2 depending on skill level. (Teacher recommendation required).
Intro To Dance (1hr 30min) - This class is for our older beginner-intermediate students age 11-18 and is a combination of Ballet, Jazz and Tap. No matter what your interest in individual classes is, this class will give you all the necessary tools to prepare including essential technique, full body movement, coordination, how to count music, and rhythm! Students in this class may also sign up for our Level 1 Hip Hop, Contemporary, and/or Acrobatics classes.
Intermediate-Advanced Classes
Ballet/Pointe (45 min - 2 hrs) - Focusing on balance, strength, posture, and proper execution of technical skills, Ballet is the foundation of many dance styles and is very important in becoming a strong well-rounded dancer. We train all dancers through Vaganova techniques. Students level 2 and up will train en Pointe.
Jazz (45 min) - Jazz body movement is the focus of this class along with kicks, leaps, and turns! Students will learn a variety of jazz styles including Classic, Fosse, Musical Theatre, Broadway, Pop, and trending styles of today! *We highly recommend all jazz dancers take Ballet as the techniques learned in Ballet are essential to execute jazz kicks, leaps, and turns properly and safely.
Tap (45 min) - Students will learn Rhythm-based, Broadway and Contemporary style tap, focusing on timing, rhythm, technique, and agility. We strive to teach our students that there is so much more to this challenging style of dance than just making noise with their feet. We love this street-originated dance genre, and it is a great style of its' own!
Hip Hop (30 min) - Hip Hop culture has brought us this street style of dance. We teach elements of popping, locking, isolations, freestyle, breaking, and commercial dance, just as you have seen from the originators of this street dance to pop artists today!
Contemporary (30-45 min) - This dance style is the movement of today being created and evolving in real time. This is a mash up Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, and Hip-Hop movements created to express oneself and move the body through space. *Must be at least 8 years old and enrolled in Jazz. Ballet is also highly recommended as well as Hip Hop and Modern.
Modern (45 min) - This genre lets dancers express themselves through abstract movement retaining Ballet technique and expanding upon it to explore total body movement through creative expression. Currently, we teach Lester Horton and Martha Graham techniques of Modern dance. *Must be at least 10 years old and currently enrolled in Ballet 2 or higher (Ballet 1 may be considered at teacher discretion).
Acrobatic Tumbling (45 min - 2hrs) - Combining acrobatics, power tumbling and contortion, we work on strength-training, hand balancing, flexibility and exciting tricks and flips! Whether your goal is to be a future cheerleader, gymnast, circus acrobat, Cirque De Soleil performer, or you just like to be upside down, you will learn all the skills you need to know in our comprehensive program! *We follow the industry guidelines on skill progressions in each level to advance safely in each level!
Technique (45 min-1 hr) - We use strength-training, Ballet, and Jazz exercises, along with many additional progressions geared toward improving basic skills, flexibility muscle-building, and technical execution needed for more advanced leaps, turns, and floor work. We also learn how to connect technical elements! We use dynamic stretching, stretch blocks, resistance bands, partner work, splits, extensions, and muscle-building to increase flexibility.
