Which Class Is Right For Me?
*All classes are open to all male and female dancers and tumblers.
*We have different programs designed for different age progressions. Check out our First Steps class for age 2-4, Little Stars classes for age 4-6, Debut classes age 7-10, Intro to Dance for age 11-17, and all leveled classes are open to intermediate - advanced students generally age 10-18.
*Adult Dance, Heels, and Tumbling classes are designed for everyone age 18 and older of all ability levels, even if it is your first ever dance class!
*Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Tumbling are considered our core classes. In these classes you begin to learn essential technique which will help you safely execute skills, full body movement, coordination, directions, how to count music, rhythm, flexibility and strength.
*Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern and Heels Class are more advanced classes that dancers are welcome to explore in addition to their prerequisites. Some with a more upbeat party style and others with a more emotional concentrated style, these classes lend to the more "trendy" styles of today and allow the dancers to dive deeper into exploring artistry and maturing as a dancer.
*Leaps/Turns/Flexibility and Technique classes specifically concentrate muscle development, proper execution and more advanced skills in these areas. These classes do not learn choreography, so there is more time to really improve and get extra help to transfer over to core classes.
*Dance Team - we don't currently offer a pom/dance team class, however you will find all the skills you need in our Ballet, Jazz, Leaps/Turns, Flexibility, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tumbling, which have all the training required for dance team preparation! Don't forget continuing training while on dance team is so important to help keep up tricks and keep your body healthy and safe!
*Theatre - For those looking to advance their skills for theatre, the best classes for you to invest in are Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Heels Class. Acrobatics is always a plus in the theatre (like Newsies) and don't forget about Hip Hop for Hamilton!

How are levels determined?
Artistic Intensity has a unique approach to leveling our dancers. Our dancers advance level by ability and readiness, rather than age. We find this extremely important to help all of our dancers at an individual level. It's extremely important to us that every dancer get the education they need to be successful and confident in their journey as a dancer and tumbler. It is extremely normal for students to repeat levels for multiple years because there is so much to learn in each level to be prepared for the next. If they are not safely ready to advance, then it is completely ok for them to continue working in the same level to physically prepare to move up.
When a student registers with us for the first time, many factors go into their placement. Prior experience, age, maturity, focus, and physical readiness are all combined when considering proper level placement. For this reason, all families must contact us upon registering, so we can work together to find the best place for their student!
